When starting to bring in highly nutritious whole foods a small percentage of customers might experience a “re-feeding syndrome”.
Here is Dr. Lonsdale giving a short description of this healing reaction. Although he is directly talking about thiamine it indeed carries over to all the highly nutritious nutrients contained within glands and organs:

This is why we suggest starting low and slow so that the potential for Re-feeding syndrome is lessened. As Dr. Lonsdale mentions, mechanisms that were taken off line by the body due to not having the proper nutrition to support it are now being brought back on line. This sudden demand for oxygen utilization can become uncomfortable for some.
The bright side as Dr. Lonsdale says, this reaction bodes well for a good outcome. So again, please start slow and low, and if the re-feeding syndrome becomes too much simply back off.
